With a book that you love in your hands, turning page after page, you’ve probably wondered: how did they come up with all this? For some tedious outlining works. For others, seclusion and dedication uncovers the story they want to tell. They may draw upon their own life experiences, or the tales of others, or simply upon their imagination. Some authors however, get lucky and dream the entire thing.
Since dreams are considered to be a synthesis of what we think about, learn, and care about, they have a way of revealing to us things we were just around the corner of thinking about. From Stephenie Meyer to Stephen King and even Charlotte Bronte, dreams have been a source of inspiration for many authors. Just like you may often dream of crazy ideas, or even mundane work tasks, the dreams of authors sometimes lead them back to their waking writings.
If you’re a writer or creative, there’s likely something you can learn from your own dreams as well. Simply try concentrating on what you’re working on or interested in.
